Concept
In line with today’s trends of ubiquitous and digital convergence,
the market demands brighter and slimmer LCD screens. In response,
the HYDIS research center is striving to develop high-end
technologies that offer high resolution and brightness simultaneously.
One of the breakthrough technologies the researchers are currently
working on involves the application of ARD and RGBW, the optimal
a-Si based technologies, to mobile products.
ARD technology integrates the conventional Gate Driver IC function
in the TFT Array substrate by utilizing a-Si TFT, resulting in
improved cost competitiveness and a much slimmer product. In the
RGBW PenTile technology, white is added on top of red, green and
blue, and Sub-Pixel Rendering technology is used so that only
2/3 of the column line of the conventional RGB Stripe structure
is used while brightness is doubled.
Major Benefits:
High
brightness & high contrast ratio
A
more compact & slimmer product
Significant
cost reduction
Technology Applications
High-end mobile products including DMB, PMP and UMPC
