Concept
Unlike LCDs, OLED displays are self-emissive. They are composed of a stack of thin organic layers, which lie between an anode and cathode. Organic material emits light when an electric current flows between two electrodes.

As no backlight and color filter is required, an OLED display is very light, thin, and inexpensive. It also provides a wider viewing angle and faster response time, and requires little power than LCD.
